When Kevin takes a picture of the criminals robbing the toy store, his pictures were clear at the end of the film. That type of camera has an instant flash, and would have made a blinding reflection off the toy shop window, revealing nothing in the finished picture other than a flash of light with a black background - not a clear picture of the crooks. When Marv and Harry come out of the toy store and begin to chase Kevin, Kevin stops to get a pearl necklace to trip the sticky bandits up. When Marv and Harry slip on the pearls, tons more appear than the ones before.
When Kevin is watching the movie in the hotel room, there is a man making him an ice cream sundae. We see the sundae first completed with three scoops of ice cream, and the scene changes to another angle of Kevin on the bed. The attendant asks him how many scoops, and there is only one in the dish. When Kevin meets Marv and Harry outside the toy store, he drops his map and magnifying glass on the pavement. Immediately following the scene with the pigeon lady in the concert hall attic, Kevin walks toward the railing and a boom mic is visible as a reflection in the window to the left of the screen. In O'Hare Airport, Peter McCallister look-alike is seen purchasing at a kiosk with March 1992 issues of "Cosmopolitan", "Good Housekeeping", "Glamour", and "Vogue" magazines visible.

She explains how her life collapsed when her lover left her; Kevin encourages her to trust people again. After considering her advice that he perform a good deed to make up for his misdeeds, and recalling Mr. Duncan's intent to donate to the hospital, he decides to prevent Harry and Marv from robbing the store. Because this is a sequel, of course, the landscape is peppered with more famous faces, from Tim Curry as the Plaza Hotel concierge to Rob Schneider stepping out of SNL and into the role of Cedric the bellhop. But despite some big names and a couple of standout cameos , Hughes and Columbus never give up the Hughesian desire for authentic strangeness in the supporting characters. Curry was, of course, born to serve that dynamic, and Schneider is gamely deployed as the put-upon underling, but they’re far from the only interesting faces in this film’s particular New York landscape. Dana Ivey is remarkable as a desk clerk who carefully builds a façade of elegant composure only to let it crumble later.
It's been almost 30 years since Kevin McCallister got lost in the big city, where he encountered the Wet Bandits once again, comical hotel staff, a pigeon lady, and a future president. O’Hara’s character in the Home Alone movies was Kate McCallister, mother to Kevin. After being the mother of Kevin McCallister, she focused on her work in theaters and appeared in Wyatt Earp, Waiting or Guffman, Orange County, and more.

In order to watch the full version on television, the time slot is extended to two and a half hours. Loses a little of what the first one had because the story was so focused on the house but as the story moves to New York City, the scope is much bigger. There are dozens of these little moments, each inviting us into the lives of the ensemble, peppered throughout the film, but the best arguably comes when the rest of the McCallister clan arrives in New York to look for Kevin. At the Plaza Hotel front desk, Kate and Peter (O’Hara and Heard) confront Curry, Ivey and Schneider over their treatment of Kevin, which prompted him to escape into the Manhattan night. But it’s not just the marquee players who infuse Home Alone 2 with that Hughesian sense of a lived-in world where everyone has their own story. It all works, from Curry and Fricker right down to the gate attendant at O’Hare airport and the piano player at the Christmas pageant, who doesn’t even have any lines.
The recording of Uncle Frank singing in the shower is much longer when Kevin plays it back in the Plaza Hotel. The flight attendant on Kevin's flight as well as the announcer at O'Hare Airport announce Kevin's flight as simply going to "New York" with no specifics of which airport it is. Since New York has two airports, LaGuardia and JFK , a professional airline employee would make sure to announce the correct airport especially in a multi-airport metro area like New York. Coca-Cola products make several appearances in the film, including in the scene where Kevin rides a limousine, and when Kevin's cousin Fuller wakes up at the Plaza Hotel. Not once during the original film and this movie have Harry and Marv ever called Kevin by name.

From 2015 to 2020, she landed on Schitt’s Creekand won an Emmy Award for her role as Moira Rose as an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Show Series. Home Alone 2 opened with $31.1 million from 2,222 theaters, averaging $14,008 per site. It broke the short-lived record set one week earlier by Bram Stoker's Dracula for having the largest November opening weekend.
Culkin's return was confirmed in May, and the rest of the cast was finalized soon after. Principal photography took place between December 1991 and May 1992, and was done on location in Illinois and New York, including at the Rockefeller Center and the original World Trade Center. A very similar formula to the first but obviously set in NYC, so there was a lot of potential for different ideas which I felt they capitalized on. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern crack me up in their roles as the Wet/Sticky Bandits. One year after Kevin McCallister was left home alone and had to defeat a pair of bumbling burglars, he accidentally finds himself stranded in New York City - and the same criminals are not far behind.
After the police instructs them to find an available flight to New York, Kate instructs the family to pack up and becomes worried that Kevin is now on the run after fleeing the hotel out of fear when the staff questioned him about the card. Peter then implies that Kevin presumably took refuge at Rob and Georgette's house and is cared by a housesitter, but Kate thinks they are in Paris and their New York home is undergoing renovations. Kevin flees the hotel, only to be recaptured and kidnapped by Marv and Harry. Marv takes his ticket and notes that he is on a round trip to Miami and told him that he got on the wrong plane, and Harry rips his ticket, thus ensuring that Kevin would not get back home to Chicago or to Miami with his family.
Kevin looks out his hotel window and says goodnight to his mother as she does the same in Florida. Kevin McAllister gets separated from his family, and manages to get himself onto a plane to New York instead. There, he checks into the best hotel with his father's credit card, and sets out to enjoy himself. Unfortunately, the burglars he had foiled before were in New York after being released from jail, and had plans to rob the biggest toyshop in New York on Christmas Eve.
He kicks open the side door, causing a bag of tools to drop its contents on his head. When he recovers, he cautiously makes his way through the house and turns on each light switch. But as he enters the bathroom, he activates a switch which triggers a blowtorch, setting his head on fire.
While the film featured the first film's theme song "Somewhere in My Memory", it also contained its own theme entitled "Christmas Star". Two soundtrack albums of the film were released on November 20, 1992, with one featuring Williams' score and the other featuring contemporary Christmas songs featured in the film. Ten years later, a 2-disc Deluxe Edition of the film score soundtrack was released. The McCallister family is preparing to spend Christmas in Miami, and gathers at Peter and Kate's Chicago home. Their youngest son, Kevin, views Florida as contradictory to Christmas, due to its tropical climate and lack of Christmas trees. Hughes finished writing the film by February 1991, after signing a six-picture deal with 20th Century Fox.
